Charley MacMartin began Queen City Soil & Stone in 2005 to continue the stone and soil work he had done in Baltimore, Maryland, before moving back to Vermont with his family.

A 1988 UVM graduate, Charley's background in environmental studies and his experience working for a Vermont organic grower, David Miskell, guide the ecological practices Charley brings to soil and stone work.

Additionally, his work with housing, food and preschool cooperatives in Maryland and Vermont reflects his values of collaboration and mutual aid.
